Smelt or Koryshka (Hypomesus japonicus) in Russian is a small wild fish found in North Pacific and Atlantic. It lives in cold water, so it is fatty and rich in Omega-3. It is small and feeds on plankton, especially krill, so it does not accumulate toxins and heavy metals that bigger species do.
Drying fish is a traditional Russian way of preservation fish for winter.
This fish comes from the island of Sakhalin in the Russian Far East. It was caught in Fall'2020.
