    REMARKABLE 1933 INTERNATIONAL FILM HISTORY
    This remarkable 1933 German
    Schwarzhemden
poster was made to promote the incredibly important and historic release of the GERMAN redirected version of the 1933 Italian film “Camicia Nera” (The Black Shirt). This very significant German version was directed by the countries own Herbert Selpin (
see photo #4 posted here on eBay for more info on Selpin
). Before this more important German version was issued, the film was originally constructed by the Istituto Luce as a Italian
    propaganda
work to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Mussolini's Fascist regime - It was directed by Italy's depression-era director Giovacchino Forzano. Both versions are fictional accounts yet feature documentary film footage of a Mussolini himself making one of his stereotypical over-the-top speeches, which serves as the climax to the end of both the films
AMAZING 1933 POSTER ART BY ERICH STAHL!
The famed, and now legendary, German poster artist
Erich Ludwig Stahl was commissioned to render this magnificently bold image of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini and his marching guards
    (see photo #2)
    .
    This 1933 stamp-dated poster (
    see photo #3
) eerily foreshadows much of the same style of imagery that Adolf Hitler would adopt throughout the 1940's during his wave of Nazism to come. Stahl was always ahead of the curve. He was best known for his groundbreaking works in German expressionism in the 1910's and '20s. Today, his 1919 posters from
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari)
adorn the walls of museums around the world - including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
This is a rare opportunity to get a piece of important German poster history on this more than interesting Italian production. Hell, this is world history! Almost all paper advertising was destroyed in Germany during WWII. This poster was a happy (or not) exception. The poster measures 13 and 3/8ths by 18 and 3/8ths inches and is considered a window "card" in Germany, although it's printed on regular 1933 German poster paper. It's in
    EXCELLENT ORIGINAL UNRESTORED CONDITION!
